The index rates large U.S. employers on a scale of 0 to 100 percent based on whether they meet a range of criteria related to health care coverage of domestic partners, transgender-inclusive benefits, diversity training, organizational competency on LGBT issues and external engagement with the LGBT community. PPG named Employer of Choice for Gender Equality in Australia The Workplace Gender Equality Agency honored PPG ANZ (Australia and New Zealand) with a prestigious “Employer of Choice for Gender Equality in Australia for 2016” citation. PPG was one of only five manufacturing organizations to achieve the citation. Criteria covered leadership, learning and development, gender remuneration pay gaps, flexible working and other initiatives to support family responsibilities, employee consultation, prevention of sexual-based harassment and discrimination and targets for improving gender equality outcomes. PPG ranked on Computerworld's 2016 Best Places to Work in IT list IDG’s Computerworld ranked PPG 44th overall and No. 1 one in career development in its 2016 Best Places to Work in IT list. Rankings were based on results of a questionnaire about company offerings in benefits, career development, training and retention, as well as extensive surveys of information technology workers. U.S. EPA recognizes PPG waste reduction The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recognized PPG as one of the top 10 companies implementing source reduction activities for 2015. Source reduction generally refers to any practice that reduces the total quantity of waste generated at the source. Example activities include efficient operating practices, process modifications and raw materials modifications. Ohio Environmental Protection Agency honors PPG manufacturing facility Our coatings and resins manufacturing facility in Delaware, Ohio, earned a Gold Level Encouraging Environmental Excellence Award from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. The award recognizes an organization’s exceptional achievements in, and ongoing commitment to, environmental stewardship. Carrollton plant honored for environmental, community efforts The City of Carrollton Environmental Services Department presented its 2016 Environmental Distinction Award to our architectural coatings facility that is located in the Texas city. The award honors companies that have enhanced their pollution prevention operations and shown environmental leadership. The Carrollton plant reworked rather than disposed of more than 300,000 gallons (1,135 cubic meters) of paint and also contributed to a variety of local community initiatives. Ohio facilities earn Awards of Excellence for recycling achievements Our U.S. manufacturing facilities in Delaware and Huron, Ohio, each earned a 2016 Award for Excellence from the Ohio Chemistry Technology Council for their recycling achievements. The Delaware facility increased its recycled materials by 63 percent in 2015, while the Huron plant realized a 30 percent increase. Product and Process Awards PPG earns R&D 100 Awards for automotive, aerospace electrocoat technologies Two of our electrocoat technologies earned 2016 R&D 100 Awards in the mechanical/materials category. ENVIRO-PRIME® EPIC automotive electrocoat (e-coat) featuring a patented organic catalyst and AEROCRON™ 2100 aerospace e-coat primer are among the 100 most technologically significant products introduced into the marketplace over the past year. We also earned a Silver Award in the Green Tech category for our development of Enviro-Prime EPIC e-coat with organic catalyst. Green technology earns prestigious SURCAR recognition A green coating technology developed at our Wuhu, China, location received a 2016 SURCAR International Award in the category of environmental management. The technology reduced VOC emissions by almost 40 percent and energy consumption by 10 percent in an automotive customer’s facility. PPG-Comex ranks 3rd on Forbes Latin America Innovation List Forbes magazine named PPG-Comex one of the most-innovative companies in Latin America, ranking third on the list of companies that have achieved “significant advantages over their competition” through investments in research and development. Forbes noted that in 2014 and 2015, PPG-Comex initiated 188 innovation projects, the second-highest number among the 16 companies on the top-innovators list; received two patents; and launched a major new product, VINIMEX® TOTAL, a 100 percent acrylic architectural coating with exceptional performance characteristics. PPG INDX Knowledge Hub earns Readers’ Choice Award from USGlass magazine The INDX® Knowledge Hub, a suite of online self-service applications developed by PPG for coil and building product coatings customers, has earned a 2016 Readers’ Choice Award from USGlass magazine. Designed to make customer-service functions more transparent and responsive, the hub features two separate applications that enable PPG customers to order product data sheets and color-matched metal panels using selection criteria, such as product brand name, color name, PPG product code, metal substrate, customer name and delivery location. DURANAR SUNSTORM coating named among top products by BD&C magazine DURANAR® SUNSTORM® coating by PPG was selected by readers and editors of BD&C magazine as one the top building products of 2016. The coating, which features PPG’s proprietary 70-percent polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) formulation inflected with pearlescent flake, was among 34 products selected in the “building envelope” category. PPG products earn Good Housekeeping Seal Several PPG automotive refinish products have once again earned the Good Housekeeping Seal. These include the ENVIROBASE® High Performance, AQUABASE® Plus, DELTRON®, GLOBAL REFINISH SYSTEM® and NEXA AUTOCOLOR® 2K® brands. The Good Housekeeping Seal, issued by Good Housekeeping magazine, is one of the most recognized and respected consumer symbols of quality in the market today. Customer Awards Fiat Chrysler Automobiles names PPG ‘Sustainability Supplier of the Year’ Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Group named PPG its Sustainability Supplier of the Year for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Our selection was based on satisfying rigorous criteria and exhibiting a long-term strategic commitment to a program incorporating environmental, safety, social and economic sustainability. Ford honors PPG at 18th annual World Excellence Awards Ford honored PPG as a top-performing global supplier at its 18th annual World Excellence Awards. We received a Green Brand Pillar award for exceeding Ford’s expectations and distinguishing ourselves from our peers by achieving the highest levels of global excellence. PPG, PPG Aerospace Sealants Europe receive Airbus Best Performer Awards PPG and its joint venture Sealants Europe SAS, trading as PPG Aerospace Sealants Europe, each received a 2016 Best Performer Award from Airbus in its Procurement Operations Supply Chain & Quality Improvement Program (SQIP), as material and parts suppliers. Gold recognition presented to PPG packaging coatings in China Shenzhen Daman, one of the leading powder milk can producers in China, granted PPG Gold status as a result of our dedication to coatings innovation, exceptional customer service and a strong understanding of Chinese food safety and environmental protection regulations. PPG honored by John Deere Achieving Excellence Program Our industrial coatings business again earned recognition as a partner-level supplier for 2015 in the John Deere Achieving Excellence Program. The partner-level status is Deere & Company’s highest supplier rating, and we were selected for the honor in recognition of our dedication to providing products and service of outstanding quality and our commitment to continuous improvement. Australia refinish secures ‘Kenworth Overall Supplier of the Year’ award A team of PPG employees in Australia has been honored with the Kenworth Overall Supplier of the Year and the Kenworth Category A Supplier of the Year awards from PACCAR Australia Pty Ltd.
